I'm hotflanks' girlfriend and a newbie powerlifter, been lifting for a couple of months now and I love it! I've never done any kind of strength training before, just lots of bike riding and some soccer through high school. It's so exciting to see my muscles growing! I never would have imagined I'd be into lifting weights but it's turning into a huge passion for me. I'm so glad to be here & I'm really looking forward to learning and growing with all of you <3

Nice to meet you! I'm happy this website exists because I don't know any women IRL who are into weightlifting, and I'm a bit intimidated by all the bulky dudes at my gym but I really want to get stronger. I'm failing miserably at actually getting to the gym 3 times a week though... any tips?

Personally, it helps to have game plan for what to do at the gym that day. That way, I don't feel as lost in there and feel like I have a purpose to fulfill. Sometimes it's nice to just go in there and test out new things when the gym isn't too full. Otherwise, I find that having a plan and a goal in mind that I can accomplish before leaving the gym is more comforting.

Oh, fancy meeting you here ❤️ I second the idea of having a plan. My sessions always go better and I feel more accomplished if I know what I'm doing before I get there - at least an outline. Also maybe good to keep in mind that a lot of the bulky dudes are too busy mirin themselves in the mirror

It's easier for me if I've already got a plan figured out, for sure. And a regular schedule--I lift every morning during the week, so it helps me to just get up and get going. I also like to have some kind of post-workout reward, mine is a cup of coffee, or brunch on the weekends.

Also, knowing that I get to post pictures after a lifting session is totally motivating! It's so cool to see the changes in my body.

Swolfies!!! I do have a hard time getting up early, but my schedule is really busy and variable in the evenings throughout the week so I need to start being a morning gym person. I think a progress shot thread would be wonderful!
