Hello, everyone! I'm Ariel. I'm thankful I found out about this community when I did. I recently graduated from university, and I finally feel like I can work out without feeling guilty about the homework or reading I'm neglecting for class. I ran track from 7th grade through 12th grade in school and lifted during the off season. During that time I learned my body could drop fat and build muscle incredibly fast. My friends and parents would all warn me not to work out "too hard" or lift "too much" because, "Girls aren't supposed to get that big." Even then, it made me angry. In some yearbook pictures it looks like my arms are the size of my neck, and I'm hoping to be able to get that kind of strength back as best as I can. I'm 5'0", 105 lbs. I want to start lifting again not only to build muscle, but to also feel more capable and safe in my body. I start kettlebell lessons next week, and I plan to supplement that with more lifting between classes. I know I need to find more information on form and diet. I look forward to sharing my progress with you and seeing how each of you progress along your strength training journeys.
