Hello, everyone!
After much deliberation, I decided to take the plunge and sign up. I find the concept of a community of women helping each other out and motivating each other in a positive way so beautiful and empowering, and just what I need in my life right now. Too often I feel that people put themselves and each other down, so I was very attracted to the positive vibe of this place.
A bit about me! Well, I think my goals may be a bit different than some of you. I'm not really interested in bulking up, at least not right now. I'm more interested in weight loss and just becoming overall stronger. I've never been athletic. I'm more of a thinker and have spent most of my life in my head, lol. But I tend to eat my emotions, which I know it's not healthy. I've gotten to a place in my life where I don't hate myself anymore because of my weight, but I do want to become healthier, more agile and stronger. As a woman I feel as if the people around me, though well intentioned and thinking they needed to protect me, have always treated me as weak, and I have internalized this. Not just physically speaking, but emotionally as well. I want to become stronger all around, plus I think moving around more will help with my mood (or so I've read). Hopefully I can find here the accountability that I so need to reach my goals, cause going it at it alone is so much harder.
A while back I did manage to lose weight and learned a lot about the basics of nutrition (problem is that when I feel bad I don't follow what I know) and did go to the gym regularly. But I was always so clueless about exercise. I've never been really be able to figure out how to create my own workouts or anything like that. It's just all the science-y stuff that turns me off, I think. However, back when I went to the gym I loved weight training because it felt sooo relaxing, but I never knew what I was doing. I just went to this small town gym where the owner would just tell me “well, go do that now...” and I did. So I hope that you nice ladies will have patience with a beginner and can help me out. I'll try to help out others if I can.
So that's me! Hope you are all well and I'm looking forward to hanging out here.
