Didn't realize I was considered a guest before lol Again..my name is Krys, I'm 23, married, and a competitive powerlifter. I'm 5'10" 185lbs. When I began lifting 4 years ago I was 145lbs and "bulked" up to 198, then "leaned" out to 185lbs. I love fitness, sports, and love even more to talk about it. Can't wait to engage in conversation with all of you and watch everyone GET BIG!

So good to have you here Krys! I'd really love to hear more about your experiences with competing - I'm still kicking around in my head what I need to do to get competition ready finally.

I'm mostly confused about how to even get started! I don't have any powerlifting teams close to me as far as I've been able to figure out (there's some with a few hours drive - but idk how that would work in terms of training together? or if they would let me come a few times a month and then compete together? I really just don't know how it works at all). I'm pretty sure that the only competitions in Florida are USAPL (so at least I don't have to deal with picking a federation hah), so if I want to compete without a team I think I just have to register with USAPL and then register for a meet? But it's difficult to tell which meets would be the right one for me to start out in as a first time competitor. I feel like having a team would make it all a lot easier - but I'm a solo lifter at heart and I'd love to just know how to sign up and go smash weights.
Do you compete with a team?
